Faith isn’t earned—it’s received.

🌿 My Gentle Reflection

“This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life.”
—John 6:40 NKJV

What if salvation really is that simple?

Jesus says, “Everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.”

Not everyone who performs, not everyone who fixes themselves.
Not everyone who earns it, but everyone who believes.

But the simplicity troubles us; we expect a more complicated cure.
We want a more elaborate treatment; we assume we need to conjure up a remedy for our sin.

Some of us even quote a verse that doesn’t exist:
“God helps those who help themselves.” (that’s Popular Opinion 1:1, not Scripture.)

So we try to fix ourselves. We make up for mistakes with contributions.
We cover guilt with busyness; we overcome failure with hustle.

We try to earn salvation the old-fashioned way:
We work for it.

But Christ says:
“Your part is to trust.
Trust Me to do what you can’t.”

You already trust unseen power every day:
You sit in chairs, you drink water, you flip light switches and you turn doorknobs.

Jesus invites you to do the same with Him.

Look to Jesus . . . and believe.

✨ My Scripture of Hope

“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

📓 Journal Entry

Today I felt like I had to earn grace.
I tried to be good enough, productive enough, and spiritual enough.
But I forgot, Jesus never asked me to earn anything.
He asked me to trust him.
So I paused.
I breathed.
I whispered, “Jesus, I believe. Help my unbelief.”

🌸 God’s Promise to Me

• I don’t have to earn my place with God
• His grace saves me
• He will keep the promises He has made to me
• When I struggle, He will help me believe

🙏 My Prayer

Jesus,
I keep trying to earn what You’ve already given.
I keep striving to fix what only You can heal.
But You invite me to trust.
So I release the pressure.
I receive Your grace.
I look to You.
Amen

🧠 Gentle Tools for When You Feel Like Giving Up

1. 🛡️ Practice Picky Thinking

The thought: “I”m not good enough for God”
Pause.

  • Is this true? No—John 1:12 says I’m His child.
  • Is this kind? No—it shames me.
  • Is this from God? No—He offers grace.

Reframe: “I am enough because of Jesus.”

2. 👽 Identify UFOs (Unhelpful, False, Overgeneralized thoughts)

  • Unhelpful: “I have to earn God’s love.”
  • False: “Faith isn’t enough.”
  • Overgeneralized: “I’ll never be good enough.”

I named it a UFO and gently released it.
I reminded myself, “Faith is enough. Grace is a gift.”

3. 🌱 Uproot and Replant

Old belief: “God helps those who help themselves.”
Uproot it gently.

  • Is this true? No—Scripture says God helps those who believe.
  • Is this kind? No—it burdens me.
  • Is this from God? No—Jesus says “Trust Me”

I replanted truth: “God Helps those who Trust Him.”

📚 Gentle Insight

From Grace for the Moment by Max Lucado:

“Faith is not born at the negotiating table where we barter our goodness. Faith is birthed at the altar where we pledge our willingness to believe.”

You don’t have to earn grace.
You don’t have to fix yourself.
You don’t have to be enough.

You just have to look to Jesus.
And believe.
