God Doesn’t Just Allow You to Speak
He Frees You to Praise

📖 Scripture Focus
“Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God.” — Luke 1:64
✨ Devotional Commentary
There’s a difference between being allowed to speak and being empowered to speak. Zechariah’s story in Luke 1 is a powerful reminder that God doesn’t just tolerate our voice, he restores it.
After months of silence, his first words weren’t complaints or confusion, they were praise.
When trauma, shame, or fear have silenced us, it can feel like we need permission to speak again. But God has already given it. He’s not waiting for us to be eloquent, he’s waiting for us to be honest. Your voice is not a disruption, it’s a declaration, and it’s time to let it rise.
💭 Personal Reflection
I used to second-guess everything I said. I’d rehearse conversations in my head, edit my emotions before expressing them, and apologize for taking up space. Somewhere along the way, I internalized the lie that my voice was too much, or not enough.
But healing has taught me something radical: I don’t need to earn the right to speak. God already gave it to me. And when I speak from a place of truth, even if my voice shakes, it carries power.
Today, I spoke up in a moment where I normally would’ve stayed quiet, but afterward, I felt lighter, braver, more connected to who I really am. I’m learning that reclaiming my voice isn’t about volume, it’s about authenticity.
