When fear limits your prayers, God invites you to ask for more
🌿 My Gentle Reflection
“If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer.”
—Matthew 21:22 NCV
In the past, I used to pray small, safe prayers. Just that they wouldn’t disappoint me if they went unanswered.
But then I reread Matthew 21:22, “If you believe….”, and I realized I’d been praying out of fear, not faith.
God doesn’t just answer prayers for money or parking spots. He answers prayers for freedom like guilt, fear, and death
He wants us to be honest. But fear alone stops us:
It whispers, “Don’t ask for too much.”
It says, “You’re not worthy.”
It says, “God won’t come through.”
Here’s what I think:
Our biggest fears are like sprained ankles to God.
And we spend too much time limping through life when He’s ready to lift us.
So today, I’m asking boldly, not for materialistic things, but for peach, trust and freedom.
And I believe He will answer.
✨ My Scripture of Hope
“I tell you the truth, if your faith is as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. All things will be possible for you.”
—Matthew 17:20–21 NCV
🕊️ My Anxious Thoughts to Release
•I’m asking for too much
• God won’t answer me
• My fear is bigger than my faith
🌸 God’s Promise to Me
•God moves mountains
• He removes my worries
• He makes a way through my fears
• He answers my prayers
🙏 My Prayer
God,
I’ve been praying small.
I’ve been afraid to ask.
But You are bigger than my fear.
You are faithful.
You are kind.
So I ask boldly:
Set me free from worry.
Fill me with peace.
Help me trust You with everything.
Amen
🧠 Gentle Tools for Praying Boldly
Inspired by Max Lucado’s reminder that God answers prayers for freedom, I used three mindset tools to help me pray with courage and clarity.
1. 🛡️ Practice Picky Thinking
Journal Entry: Fear whispered, “You’re asking for too much.”
I paused.
Is this true? No—God invites bold prayers.
Is this kind? No—it shames me.
Is this from God? No—He speaks freedom.
I replaced it with “God moves mountains. He wants me to ask and be honest.” That shift felt like breath returning and a weight lifted from my shoulders.
2. 👽 Identify UFOs (Unhelpful, False, Overgeneralized thoughts)
Journal Entry: Same moment, same spiral.
• Unhelpful: “God won’t answer me.”
• False: “I’m not worthy of His help.”
• Overgeneralized: “My prayers never work.”
I named it a UFO and gently released it.
I reminded myself, “God answers prayers that set me free.” Now I feel I have been seen.
3. 🌱 Uproot and Replant
Journal Entry: That fear stirred up an old belief: “I have to earn God’s attention.”
I paused and chose to uproot it.
Is this true? No—God hears me.
Is this kind? No—it burdens me.
Is this from God? No—He offers grace.
I replanted truth: “God delights in my prayers. I am free to ask.” Then I felt like I was being held.
💡 Gentle Insight: The Prayers He Answers
Max Lucado reminds us that God’s answers are not limited to earthly perks.
He writes:
“Sin, fear, and death. These are the mountains he has moved. These are the prayers he will answer.”
That truth changed how I pray. I don’t have to hold back.
I don’t have to be afraid. I can ask, and I can believe.
