🌱 You are called to walk in truth, not performance

📖 SCRIPTURE

“For the Lord sees not as man sees. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105 NIV

🔥 DEVOTIONAL REFLECTION

There is a quiet courage in choosing to live authentically. Scripture tells us that God looks at the heart. He sees the truth beneath the surface. He sees the intentions, the tenderness, the depth, and the sincerity that others may overlook. While people may judge by appearance, God sees the real you and calls that truth good.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us that God’s word lights our path. Light reveals what is real. Light exposes what is hidden. Light guides us toward honesty with ourselves and with God. Authenticity is not about being bold for the sake of attention. It is about walking in the light God provides and refusing to hide the parts of you He has already blessed.

Authenticity attracts what aligns with God’s purpose for your life. It draws in people who honour your truth and gently filters out those who cannot walk with you. When you live in the light of God’s truth, you no longer need to perform. You no longer need to shrink. You no longer need to pretend.

The moon reflects the sun’s light. In the same way, your authenticity reflects the light of Christ within you. You do not create the light. You carry it. You reveal it. You walk in it.

God is not asking you to be impressive.
He is asking you to be true.
He is asking you to be whole.
He is asking you to be His.

🍂 PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

I have spent much of my life trying to be what others needed. I have softened my voice, hidden my depth, and masked my overwhelm to avoid being misunderstood. My neurodivergence means I feel deeply and sense truth quickly, yet I have often questioned whether my way of being was too much.

But God keeps reminding me that authenticity is not a flaw. It is a calling.

When I am true to who God made me, I feel grounded. I feel steady. I feel aligned. I feel like I can breathe. The people who are meant to walk with me recognize that truth. The ones who are not meant to stay naturally drift away. That is not rejection. That is protection.

I am learning to trust the light God places on my path. I am learning to trust the truth He sees in my heart. I am learning to trust that authenticity is not only safe, but sacred.
