A Reflection for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October invites us to wear pink, but more than that, it invites us to remember. To honor the stories etched into scar tissue, the quiet bravery of early mornings in waiting rooms, and the sacred strength of those who walk through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery with grace.

For me, this month holds quiet memories.
I think of the scarves folded neatly in drawers, the journals filled with prayers, the soft laughter that returned after long silences.

I remember the sacred rhythm of checking in, visiting close friends, sitting beside them with tea and tenderness, asking not just ā€œHow are you?ā€ but ā€œHow is your spirit?ā€

I carry the stories of women who taught me that healing is not just physical, it’s spiritual, emotional, and deeply relational.

Their courage softened me. Their presence shaped me. Their journey reminds me that healing is never linear, and love is never wasted.

🌸 Reflection: Tender Courage

Today, I pause.
Not to fix, not to explain, but to feel.
I honor the bodies that have endured.
I honor the hearts that have broken and mended.
I honor the stories that continue to unfold.

I reflect on the courage it takes to show up to appointments, to conversations, to life itself when fear is loud and faith feels fragile.

I ask myself:

  • What does healing look like for me today?
  • Where do I need gentleness more than grit?
  • Who can I hold in prayer, even if I don’t know their name?
  • Who might need a visit, a check-in, a quiet moment of care?

I write. I breathe. I remember that healing is not linear and that love is never wasted.

šŸ™ Prayer Insert: For the Brave and the Tender

God of comfort,
Hold close every woman, every soul, walking through the valley of diagnosis.
Wrap them in peace that surpasses understanding.
Strengthen their bodies, calm their minds, and surround them with love that does not flinch.

For those in remission, may joy return gently.
For those in treatment, may strength rise daily.
For those we’ve lost may their memory be a blessing.

Teach us to be tender with each other.
To listen without rushing.
To love without condition.
To hope without fear.
And to show up—with tea, with presence, with grace.

Amen.
