Day 1 – Tears That Testify
🌿 When Emotion Becomes Sacred 🌿
📖 “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” — Psalm 56:8
📖 Devotional Thought
Tears are not weakness. They are sacred expressions of the soul. Psalm 56:8 reveals a God who doesn’t just notice our tears he collects them. He records them. He honors them.
In a world that often demands composure, God invites vulnerability. Your tears speak a language heaven understands.
💭 My Story from the Wilderness
I used to apologize for crying. I’d say, “Sorry, I’m just tired,” or “Ignore me I’m being dramatic.” But deep down, I was grieving. I was longing to be seen.
One night, after a hard conversation, I sat in my car and sobbed. I felt embarrassed and alone. But then I remembered Psalm 56:8. I whispered, “God, are You collecting these too?”
And in that moment, I felt held, not fixed, not silenced but seen.
🌱 How I Incorporated the Message
I stopped apologizing for my tears. I began honoring them.
I created a “tear journal” a space to write what I was crying about and what I sensed God saying in the midst of it. I lit candles during emotional moments to mark them as sacred. I let my tears testify.
✍️ Journaling Prompts
- What’s a moment when your tears felt misunderstood or dismissed?
- How do you usually respond to your own tears—do you hide them, honor them, or ignore them?
- What might God be saying through the tears you’ve cried recently?
🙏 Closing Prayer
God, thank You for collecting my tears. Thank You for seeing what others overlook. Help me honor the emotions I’ve tried to silence. Let my tears testify—not just to my pain, but to Your presence. Amen.
🌅 Sneak Peek: Jesus Wept
Tomorrow, we’ll reflect on the shortest verse in the Bible—and one of the most powerful. Jesus didn’t hide His tears. He let them speak love, empathy, and divine humanity.
