Coping with Forgetfulness Through Faith
đż Day 6: I Forgot Again â Grace for the Gaps
Forgetfulness can feel like failureâespecially when it affects people we love or promises we meant to keep. In this Day 6 devotional, Tracey Brown shares a vulnerable story of missed moments and the shame that follows, offering a powerful reminder from 2 Corinthians 12:9: âMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.â This post is for anyone whoâs ever whispered, âI forgot again,â and wondered if grace still applies.
đ Scripture Focus
2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
“But he said to me, âMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.â Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
đ Daily Devotional: Grace in the Gaps
Last month, I forgot a friendâs birthday.
No text. No call. No card.
And when I realized it days later, I felt sick.
Forgetfulness isnât just inconvenientâit can feel like a betrayal. Especially when your heart was in the right place. Especially when you meant to show up.
Living with ADHD means my brain is wired for creativity and emotion, not for linear recall. Iâve missed deadlines, skipped meals, and forgotten things I deeply cared about. And every time, the same inner voice whispers:
âYouâre failing.â
âYouâre disappointing everyone.â
âYouâll never get it together.â
But then I read 2 Corinthians 12:9.
And I realized: God doesnât keep score.
He meets me in the gaps.
He doesnât measure my worth by my memory.
He measures it by His mercy.
đ Personal Reflections
I once wrote a devotional for someone grieving. I prayed over it. I meant every word.
And thenâI forgot to send it.
Days passed.
And when I remembered, I spiraled into guilt.
But grace interrupted the spiral.
God reminded me: âMy power is made perfect in weakness.â
Forgetfulness didnât disqualify me.
It became the very place where grace showed up.
đ Journaling Prompts
Take a few quiet moments to reflect:
- What have you forgotten recently that still weighs on your heart?
- What story are you telling yourself about what that means?
- How does 2 Corinthians 12:9 speak to that moment?
- Write a note to yourself from grace. What does God want you to remember?
đ Keynotes for Daily Living
- Forgetfulness is not failureâitâs an invitation to lean on grace.
- Godâs power doesnât wait for perfectionâit rests on weakness.
- You are still worthy, even when you forget.
- Shame is not your storyâgrace is.
- Healing begins when we stop hiding and start receiving.

đ Sneak Peek: Day 7 â You Are Not Too Much
Have you ever been told youâre âtoo emotional,â âtoo intense,â or âtoo sensitiveâ?
In todayâs devotional, Tracey Brown opens up about the ache of rejection sensitivity and the lifelong habit of shrinking to fit in. But through the lens of Psalm 139:14, weâre reminded that our fullness isnât a flawâitâs divine design.
âYou Are Not Too Muchâ is a healing invitation to stop apologizing for your depth and start embracing the truth: you are fearfully and wonderfully made. This post offers spiritual insight, reset practices, journaling prompts, and a prayer for anyone whoâs ever felt like they had to be less to be loved.
If youâve ever masked your true self to feel safe, this oneâs for you.
